A songwriter and Nashville recording artist, born and raised on a cattle farm in Western Kentucky, he grew up listening to country music from folks like Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and George Strait.

While majoring in Agriculture at Murray State University, he competed in bull riding on the college rodeo team, and was introduced to the music of Chris Ledoux and you will here influences of all those guys in Russ's music.

He taught High School Agriculture and FFA for a number of years, raised cattle, and served as a Baptist pastor. Russ has always loved music and got his start singing hymns in church. It wasn’t until later in life that he discovered a love for writing songs.

Working with Nashville's A team Russ has spent the last year writing and recording some of his latest songs and getting things ready for upcoming performances in 2021. If you like sincere from-the-heart country music with a few tongue-in-cheek twists now and then you will no doubt love his songs.
